Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (MDMK) General Secretary Vaiko has firmly stated that his party’s alliance with the ruling DMK is not based on political calculations for positions like Rajya Sabha membership but is grounded in shared ideological principles.
Speaking to the media, Vaiko welcomed the Central Government’s recent announcement about conducting a caste-based census alongside the upcoming population census. “Ideally, the caste census should have been conducted four years ago. Though delayed, the Centre’s intent to carry it out now is appreciated. It must be done thoroughly and without any lapses,” he emphasized.
Vaiko further explained the basis of his party’s alliance with the DMK. “We have joined hands with the DMK to collectively oppose Hindutva forces. This is a principled alliance based on ideology, not a political arrangement made for securing a Rajya Sabha seat,” he clarified.
He reiterated MDMK’s continued support for the DMK-led coalition, affirming that the alliance would endure under any circumstances.
