Colombo,Ā  May 12: In a dominant display, India secured the Women’s Tri-Nation ODI Series title by defeating Sri Lanka by 97 runs in the final held on May 11, 2025, at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. Vice-captain Smriti Mandhana led the charge with a sublime century, while the bowlers, spearheaded by Sneh Rana and Amanjot Kaur, ensured a comprehensive win.
Mandhana’s Masterclass Sets the Tone
Opting to bat first, India posted a formidable total of 342/7. Mandhana, battling cramps in humid conditions, crafted a majestic 116 off 101 balls, marking her 11th ODI century. Her innings featured 15 fours and two sixes, including four consecutive boundaries off Chamari Athapaththu to reach her hundred in style. She shared significant partnerships: a 70-run stand with Pratika Rawal (30) and a 120-run alliance with Harleen Deol (47), laying a solid foundation for India’s innings.
Late-order contributions from Jemimah Rodrigues (44 off 29), Harmanpreet Kaur (41 off 30), Deepti Sharma (20* off 14), and Amanjot Kaur (18 off 12) propelled India to a commanding total.
In response, Sri Lanka was bundled out for 245 in 48.2 overs. Sneh Rana’s impressive figures of 4/38 and Amanjot Kaur’s 3/54 dismantled the Sri Lankan batting lineup. Despite efforts from skipper Chamari Athapaththu (51) and Nilakshika Silva (48), the hosts couldn’t withstand India’s bowling onslaught.
The early dismissal of Hasini Perera for a duck set the tone, and although Athapaththu and Vishmi Gunaratne (36) attempted to stabilize the innings, regular wickets curtailed their progress.
Player of the Match: Smriti Mandhana for her outstanding century.
Player of the Series: Sneh Rana for her consistent all-round performances throughout the tournament.
This victory underscores India’s dominance in the series and serves as a significant boost ahead of the upcoming Women’s Cricket World Cup
