International travelers arriving at Chennai Airport will soon benefit from free Wi-Fi access, even without possessing an Indian SIM card. This initiative aims to enhance connectivity for passengers who currently face challenges in completing the mandatory Know Your Customer (KYC) verification required for internet access.Live Chennai
The Airports Authority of India (AAI), in collaboration with Arche Global and BSNL, plans to install self-service kiosks in the arrival and departure halls of Terminal 2’s International section by the end of June. These kiosks will enable passengers to scan their boarding pass and passport to receive a coupon containing a One-Time Password (OTP). This OTP will grant them 500 MB of data valid for 45 minutes, facilitating immediate tasks such as booking transportation or contacting acquaintances upon arrival.
Initially, two kiosks will be deployed, with the possibility of adding more based on passenger demand. Clear signage will be provided to ensure travelers are aware of this new facility once operational.
This development reflects Chennai Airport’s commitment to improving passenger experience by addressing connectivity challenges faced by international travelers.
