In a heartfelt celebration of the poetic genius who left an indelible mark on Tamil cinema and literature, the first-ever tribute concert for the late lyricist Na. Muthukumar has been officially announced. This grand event, commemorating 50 years since his birth, is set to take place on 5th July 2025 at the YMCA Grounds, Nandanam, Chennai.
Organised by the Na. Muthukumar Welfare Core Committee in association with ACTC Events, the tribute concert will bring together the entire Tamil film fraternity for an evening filled with music, memories, and deep admiration for the man whose words touched millions.
Na. Muthukumar, whose lyrical brilliance spanned hundreds of songs and poems, is remembered not just as a prolific writer but also as a literary force whose verses bridged emotion, philosophy, and everyday life. From romantic ballads to profound reflections on love, loss, and identity, his contributions have earned a permanent place in the hearts of Tamil audiences across generations.
The event promises a night of soulful musical performances by leading music directors and playback singers, who will perform a curated list of his most iconic songs. The evening will also feature memorable tributes, anecdotes, and unseen moments from his career, offering fans and fellow artists an opportunity to remember and celebrate his life.
An impressive committee of industry stalwarts and literary minds is steering the event, including:
R.K. Selvamani, R.V. Udayakumar, SKP. Karuna, Director Bala, Director N. Lingusamy, G. Dhananjayan, Suresh Kamatchi, Director Mohan Raja, Director Vasanthabalan, Director Ram, Director Vijay, Director Rajesh, Writer Bava Chelladurai, Writer Ajayan Bala, and Writer Vel Murugan.
This tribute concert is more than just a musical evening—it is a celebration of the life, art, and enduring legacy of Na. Muthukumar, whose words continue to resonate in every corner of Tamil culture.
