Following the highly anticipated release of Thug Life on June 5, 2025, acclaimed director Mani Ratnam is set to collaborate once again with actor Silambarasan TR (Simbu) on a new romantic film. This upcoming project marks a departure from their previous action-packed ventures, signaling a return to Ratnam’s signature romantic storytelling.Reports indicate that the film will also feature actress Rukmini Vasanth in a leading role. While Ratnam has previously worked with Silambarasan in ensemble casts like Chekka Chivantha Vaanam, this new venture will be their first collaboration with Silambarasan as the sole male lead in a romantic narrative. An official announcement regarding the project is expected soon.
In addition to this project, Silambarasan has a busy slate ahead with multiple films in various stages of production. These include STR 49, directed by Ramkumar Balakrishnan; STR 50, where he takes on the challenging role of a transgender character under the direction of Desingh Periyasamy; and STR 51, a fantasy entertainer helmed by Ashwath Marimuthu.
