IIT Madras held a special convocation ceremony for its BS Degree graduates. A total of 867 students received their degrees on Sunday The convocation covered both three-year BSc and four-year BS programmes in Data Science & Applications and Electronic Systems This is the first batch to complete the full fourāyear BS degree Director Prof. V Kamakoti praised the achievements: around 150 graduates came from families earning less than ā¹1 lakh per year, and 100 from those earning under ā¹5 lakh. He called it the true spirit of āIIT-M for allā Three of the top ten ranks in the GATE Data Science exam were secured by IIT-M BS graduates ā including an MBBS doctor from AIIMS Delhi, who secured the AllāIndia The event was attended by chief guest Aravind Krishnan of Blackstone, students, faculty, and parents. He praised the programme for setting a global benchmark in data science education The BS programme is built for flexible learning, combining online classes with in-person exams, and offers multiple exit points: foundation certificate, diploma, or full degree dtnext. Over 38,000 students are currently enrolled, with more than half pursuing it alongside another degree This initiative is aligned with the UNās Sustainable Development Goal 4 of offering inclusive, quality education @
