Leader of Opposition Edappadi K. Palaniswami has blamed the DMK government for letting gun violence grow in Tamil Nadu. His statement comes after the shocking death of a PMK youth wing secretary, Chakravarthy, in Ranipet.
Police had first said Chakravarthy died in a road accident on June 11. But a postmortem report later confirmed he was killed by a gunshot. EPS said the AIADMK government had maintained law and order well, but things have worsened under DMK rule.
EPS also reminded that a DMK functionary in the same district was earlier caught with illegal weapons. He had warned the state government then, but no action was taken, he said.
He urged the government to take strong action against those involved in the killing and to put an end to the spread of gun culture in the state.
