Coimbatore, June 20: A seminar titled ‘Transformative Agriculture for Lucrative Income’ will take place on June 22 at the Sarada Krishna Homoeopathic Medical College and Hospital campus in Kulasekharam, Kanyakumari district. The event is part of the Cauvery Calling movement, launched by spiritual leader Jaggi Vasudev, popularly known as Sadhguru. The seminar aims to raise awareness among farmers about the benefits of tree-based intercropping—growing high-value trees alongside traditional crops like coconut. Thamizhmaran, the field coordinator for Cauvery Calling, said the movement focuses on helping farmers identify suitable tree crops for better economic returns. “Just like pepper has proven viable, farmers are now seeing success with nutmeg and avocado. We’re guiding them toward stable income through sustainable tree intercropping,” he explained.
The event will feature expert talks from renowned scientists including Dr. Senthilkumar from the National Horticultural Research Institute, Bengaluru, and Dr. K. Kandiannan, Dr. S. Aarthi, and Dr. Mohammad Faisal Peeran from the ICAR–Indian Institute of Spices Research. Award-winning farmers who have already adopted this model will also share their experiences. Tamilarasan, a farmer speaker at the seminar, emphasized the need to promote organic and multi-cropping systems. Interested farmers can register by calling 94425 90079 or 94425 90081.
