Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin has released the Coimbatore Master Plan 2041, which will guide the city’s development over the next two decades.
The plan covers an area of 1,531.57 square kilometres and aims to ensure structured and sustainable urban growth.
This is the second master plan for the Coimbatore Local Planning Area, with the previous plan approved in 1994. The new plan includes the Coimbatore City Municipal Corporation, municipalities like Madukkarai, Karumathampatti, Kudalur, Karumadai, 21 town panchayats, and 66 revenue villages.
The plan was prepared after consultations with the public and more than 40 government departments. It focuses on improving regional connectivity, supporting economic development, meeting housing needs, and protecting the environment.
The Coimbatore Master Plan 2041 is expected to play a key role in shaping the city’s infrastructure, transport, and residential growth in a planned manner.
