The high-profile case involving the brutal murder of an elderly couple in Sivagiri, near Erode, has been officially transferred to the Crime Branch-Criminal Investigation Department (CBCID) for further investigation.
The victims, Rakkiyappan (75) and his wife Pakkiyam (60), were living alone in a farmhouse near Sivagiri. On May 2, the couple was found murdered by unidentified assailants, triggering shock and concern in the local community.
Following the incident, five special police teams were formed to track down the culprits. Three suspectsâAachiyappan, Matheswaran, and Ramesh, all from Arasaluâwere arrested and are currently being interrogated.
In a major development on July 9, the Tamil Nadu police announced the transfer of the case to the CBCID, indicating the seriousness and complexity of the investigation. The move is expected to bring further clarity and expedite justice in the case.
