Raj Bhavan, the official residence of the Governor of Tamil Nadu in Chennai, was the target of a hoax bomb threat delivered via email on Wednesday. The sender claimed that an explosive device had been planted on the premises and was set to detonate shortly, triggering an immediate and comprehensive security response.
Following the threat, a team comprising police personnel, the Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS), and sniffer dogs swiftly conducted an extensive sweep of the entire Raj Bhavan complex. After a thorough search, authorities confirmed that the threat was a hoax.
The Guindy police have registered a case and initiated an investigation to identify and apprehend the individual responsible for sending the malicious email. This incident follows a similar occurrence on July 5, when a 42-year-old man from Sivaganga district, identified as Thavasilingam, was arrested for making a hoax bomb threat to the Tamil Nadu Police headquarters as a prank.
