In connection with International Skin Day, observed globally on July 8 to raise awareness about skin health and related diseases, free skin health check-up camps will be held across Tamil Nadu on July 13.Organized by the Indian Association of Dermatologists, Venereologists and Leprologists (IADVL), the camps will be set up in cities including Chennai, Coimbatore, Madurai, Trichy, Salem, and several others. The focus will be on providing care to senior citizens, destitutes, special children, and the differently-abled.
Dr. Dinesh Kumar, President of IADVL (Tamil Nadu), highlighted that skin issues are often seen as cosmetic, while in reality, they can indicate deeper internal problems. The camps will offer diagnosis and free treatment for conditions like fungal infections, scabies, hair loss, allergies, and skin irritation.
Free medicines and consultations will be provided at centres such as old-age homes, orphanages, and special care units across the state.
