Naam Tamilar Katchi (NTK) chief Seeman has strongly criticized the Tamil Nadu government for its handling of the proposed second international airport at Parandur. He accused the government of acting in a hasty and undemocratic manner, disregarding the concerns of local villagers.Seeman said that for over 1,075 days, the people of Eglanapuram and surrounding villages have been protesting against the airport project. Despite this, the state government is pushing ahead with land acquisition, even before receiving necessary environmental and legal approvals. He condemned the move as an example of āsubstandard governance.ā
According to Seeman, only 17.5 acres of land have been acquired so far, yet the government is projecting this as a major breakthrough and falsely claiming that villagers are voluntarily giving up their land. He criticized the authorities for not holding any proper discussions with the affected people and acting as if they are running a private company rather than a democratic government.
He called on the state to halt the project immediately, engage in open dialogue with the residents, and listen to their concerns. Seeman also warned that if the government continues to ignore the voices of the people, Naam Tamilar Katchi will lead a large-scale protest in support of the people.
