The Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) has withdrawn its interim petition in the Chennai Civil Court regarding the use of the elephant motif on actor Vijay’s newly founded party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), flag.Earlier, BSP had filed the petition seeking a temporary court order to remove the elephant design from TVK’s flag. The party claimed that the motif—two elephants flanking a flower—closely resembled their own symbol and was therefore being used illegally under election rules
The court was expected to issue an interim order on the matter today. However, shortly before the hearing, BSP officially retracted the petition. BSP state president Anand stated that the main legal case would continue and further arguments will determine TVK’s right to use the elephant symbol .
With the interim petition withdrawn, TVK may continue using the elephant motif on its flag until the final verdict in the main petition is delivered.
