After a prolonged delay of nearly eight years, the much-anticipated Tamil film Titanic, starring Kalaiyarasan and Anandhi in the lead roles, is all set to hit theatres on July 18. The film, which began production in 2016, was initially scheduled to release on May 6, 2022, but the release did not materialize then.Originally titled Titanic – Kadhalum Kavundhu Pogum, the film marks the directorial debut of Janakiraman, who previously worked under acclaimed filmmakers Sudha Kongara and Balaji Mohan. Interestingly, Balaji Mohan also makes a cameo appearance in the film.
Titanic recently made headlines when actor Kalaiyarasan took to X (formerly Twitter) to publicly urge producer CV Kumar to release the film, stating that the entire team had put in immense effort and that the film deserves its theatrical run.
The film features a strong ensemble cast that includes Kaali Venkat, Madhumitha, Ashna Zaveri, Ragav Vijay, Chetan, and Devadarshini, while Gayathrie appears in a cameo.
Music is composed by Nivas K Prasanna, and it was earlier reported that Silambarasan TR has lent his voice for a song in the film. The technical crew includes Ballu as the cinematographer, Radhakrishnan Dhanapal and Ignatious Aswin as editors, Ram Prasad as art director, and Sandy handling choreography.
In an interesting coincidence, another film featuring Kalaiyarasan titled Trending is also slated for release on July 18, making it a double treat for his fans.
