Mallai Sathya, the Deputy General Secretary of the Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (MDMK), has issued a heartfelt statement vehemently refuting accusations of betrayal leveled against him by his leader, Vaiko.

In his statement, Sathya expressed deep distress over Vaiko’s comparison of him to Maathaiya, who allegedly betrayed Velupillai Prabhakaran, and the accusation that he betrayed Vaiko for the political advancement of Vaiko’s son, Durai MP. Sathya asserted his unwavering loyalty to the MDMK and to Vaiko for 32 years, emphasizing his personal sacrifices for the party. He stated that he has never contemplated or acted against Vaiko’s interests.

Sathya revealed that he has endured sleepless nights since the accusation was made on July 9, 2025, and likened the baseless charge to being asked to drink poison. He implored Vaiko to refrain from leveling such severe accusations against any other party worker, deeming it beneath Vaiko’s stature.

The MDMK Deputy General Secretary also recalled his initial reluctance to accept the Deputy General Secretary position during the current leadership selection, having informed Vaiko of the prevailing situation on May 22, 2023, but eventually accepting due to Vaiko’s insistence. He noted that his past predictions were now unfolding and that he had faced severe criticism and defamation for the past three years.

Despite the accusations, Sathya reaffirmed his steadfast commitment to the principles of the Dravidian movement and his intention to continue working for Tamil rights and community development. He explained his four-day silence following the accusations, stating that he felt compelled to respond publicly after MDMK Principal Secretary Durai MP criticized him.
