Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin has strongly criticized the BJP-led central government for its inaction on the Katchatheevu issue.Speaking at a welfare event in Mayiladuthurai, Stalin said the Prime Minister must directly intervene and resolve the matter.
He laid foundation stones for new projects, launched completed ones, and distributed welfare aid to beneficiaries.
Stalin said the Tamil Nadu government is taking all steps to protect the interests of fishermen. He urged the Prime Minister to retrieve Katchatheevu from Sri Lanka.
A resolution was once again passed in the Tamil Nadu Assembly on April 2 regarding this issue.
Stalin said the Central Government has failed to act on retrieving Tamil fishermen and their boats from Sri Lankan custody.
He accused the BJP government of showing no concern for Tamil fishermen and only engaging in politics over Katchatheevu.
He pointed out that foreign agreements come under the Centre’s authority and that the BJP has ruled for over 10 years without taking any action to reclaim Katchatheevu.
Stalin also criticized the External Affairs Minister for not responding to Sri Lanka’s recent statement that they will never give up Katchatheevu.
He insisted that the Prime Minister must step in and end the issue. The DMK and Tamil Nadu government, he said, will keep fighting.
