Various women’s organizations and women’s welfare associations recently filed a complaint at the Chennai Police Commissioner’s office against Seeman, a prominent political figure. The complaint stems from controversial remarks he made concerning the suicide of a woman named Rithanya in Tiruppur, allegedly due to dowry harassment.Seeman had reportedly questioned the silence of women’s organizations and women’s welfare associations on the issue, stating, “No women’s organization or women’s welfare association has condemned this suicide. Where have they gone and lain down without raising their voice for this issue? Are they lying around after consuming ganja or cocaine, or are they drinking alcohol at TASMAC outlets?”
Following their complaint, members of the women’s organizations and associations tore up photographs of Seeman and stomped on them with their footwear, expressing their outrage over his derogatory comments.
