Five individuals, including the brother of deceased temple watchman Ajithkumar, appeared before the CBI office in Madurai today for questioning in connection with his alleged murder by special task force police officers.
The ongoing investigation by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) seeks to uncover the circumstances surrounding Ajithkumar’s death.
Those who appeared for questioning include Ajithkumar’s brother, Naveenkumar, along with Karthivel (a temple car driver), Arunkumar (an auto driver), Vinodkumar, and Praveen (Ajithkumar’s colleagues). The CBI had issued summons to these five individuals, considering them important witnesses crucial to the case. The questioning is expected to continue throughout the evening.
Earlier, five police officersâKannan, Prabhu, Anand, Raja, and Sankara Manikandanâwere arrested in connection with Ajithkumar’s death and are currently lodged in Madurai Central Prison.
The CBI has seized the mobile phones of these arrested officers and plans to analyze the data with the help of technical experts. Investigators believe that examining the phone records will provide vital information regarding communication and discussions around the time of the incident, potentially revealing crucial details about Ajithkumar’s murder.
The CBI has been actively investigating the case for the past week, conducting on-site inspections at various locations, including the Madapuram temple office, temple cowshed, and commercial complex.
