United Nations, July 24: Gaza is going through a severe food crisis. World Health Organization (WHO) chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said the situation is man-made and caused by a blockade.Israel stopped all aid to Gaza in March 2024. The blockade was lifted in May, but strict rules still remain. Israel says these are to stop aid from reaching militants like Hamas.
Tedros said food in Gaza has almost run out. “It is clear. This is mass starvation, and it is man-made,” he said in a press meet from Geneva.
More than 100 aid groups also warned of hunger in Gaza. They said food, water, and medicine are waiting just outside, but cannot be delivered.
The WHO and other groups are asking for full access to Gaza to help people in need.
