Tiruppur, July 24: The Hindu Munnani has announced that it will install 1.5 lakh Ganesha idols across Tamil Nadu ahead of Vinayaka Chaturthi, which falls on August 27 this year.

State president Kadeswara Subramaniam said that the idols are made using eco-friendly materials like paper pulp and potato starch. Only water-based colors are used to ensure they are safe for the environment.

The idols will come in various forms including Simha Vahanam, Shiva Parvati, Muruga Ganesha, Siddhi Buddhi, Anna Vahanam, and Viswaroopa Ganesha. They will range in height from 3 to 11 feet.

Special immersion processions have also been planned in different cities. Key political and film personalities are expected to participate:

BJP State President Nainar Nagendran in Tiruppur, Annamalai in Coimbatore, Actor Ranjith in Mettupalayam, Union Minister Murugan in Madurai, Director Perarasu in Dindigul, BJP Leader H. Raja in Gobichettipalayam, Actress Kasturi in Uthamapalayam.

The Hindu Munnani says all arrangements are being made to celebrate the festival peacefully and in an environmentally responsible manner.

The Hindu Munnani has said that the focus this year is on celebrating the festival with devotion while also raising awareness about environmental protection. Volunteers and members are actively involved in creating awareness campaigns about using eco-friendly idols.

Police and local authorities are being consulted to ensure that all installations and immersion processions take place in a peaceful and orderly manner. Permission requests have been submitted, and coordination meetings are being held in advance to avoid any disruption.
