A 19-year-old student pursuing B.E. Leather Technology at Anna University was found dead in his hostel room within the university campus, with authorities suspecting suicide.The deceased has been identified as Sabarinathan, hailing from Tenkasi district. He was a second-year student staying in the Ganga hostel located within the Anna University complex in Guindy.
According to police sources, hostel mates who hadn’t seen him since morning grew suspicious and informed the warden. Upon checking, the student was found hanging in his room. Police were immediately alerted, and the body was sent to the Government Royapettah Hospital for postmortem.
Guindy police have registered a case and are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident. No suicide note has been recovered so far, and the reason for the alleged suicide remains unclear.
The university administration expressed condolences and assured full cooperation with the investigation. Meanwhile, fellow students and staff were left shocked by the tragic development.
