Chief Minister M.K. Stalin has strongly condemned the arrest of two Kerala-based nuns in Chhattisgarh. In a post on his X (formerly Twitter) page, he said:“It is worrying that Kerala nuns are being harassed and falsely accused by Bajrang Dal members in Chhattisgarh. This is a reflection of a dangerous form of communalism. Minorities should not be intimidated. Minorities in India deserve dignity and equal rights.”
The two nuns were arrested on charges of religious conversion. Stalin said such incidents show rising religious intolerance in some parts of the country.
He urged that all communities, especially minorities, must be treated with fairness and respect. The Tamil Nadu Chief Minister also warned against spreading fear in the name of religion.
