Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin has said that the government will take steps to restore tiger habitats in the state to protect forests and wildlife. He said saving tigers is equal to saving the soul of forests.
Tamil Nadu currently has 306 tigers. Stalin credited forest officers and anti-poaching teams for their work. He also said that the state has filled 1,947 forest department posts and provided them with modern equipment.
Efforts are being made to remove harmful plants like Lantana camara from the forests. A special Forest and Wildlife Crime Control Bureau has been formed to stop wildlife crimes.
The CM said the government is committed to protecting wildlife and keeping forests healthy for the future.
