VCK leader Thol Thirumavalavan has alleged that the death of Kavin Selvaganesh, a Dalit youth from Tirunelveli, was a planned murder, not a simple incident as portrayed. He also questioned the authenticity of a video released by Kavin’s girlfriend, Subashini, claiming it appeared scripted and that she may have been coerced into recording it.Speaking to the media after visiting Kavin’s family, Thirumavalavan said the crime seems to have been planned within the Palayamkottai police limits. He noted that although Sub-Inspector Saravanan and his son Surjith have been arrested in connection with the case, Saravanan’s wife Krishnakumari, who is also suspected to be involved, is still absconding.
Thirumavalavan demanded that the case be transferred to the CB-CID for a deeper and fairer investigation. He accused the police of failing to arrest all those responsible and called for immediate action against all those involved, including those who may have helped cover up the crime.
Meanwhile, DMK MP Kanimozhi, along with ministers K.N. Nehru and Anitha Radhakrishnan, also visited Kavin’s family and offered condolences. Kanimozhi assured them that the government would take strict action and ensure justice.
The case has triggered public outrage, especially among Dalit rights groups, who are demanding justice and action against caste-based violence.
