AIADMK General Secretary and Leader of Opposition Edappadi K. Palaniswami condemned the brutal murder of a Sub-Inspector (SI) in Madathukulam, describing the incident as a shocking reflection of the deteriorating law and order situation in Tamil Nadu.

In a strongly worded statement, Palaniswami said that the ruling DMK government had failed to ensure safety for both the police force and the general public. “When a police officer performing his duty is not safe in Tamil Nadu, how can ordinary people feel secure? The only way to protect the lives of the people and restore law and order is to remove this incapable DMK regime from power,” he said.

The murder of the SI has triggered outrage across the state, with police associations and political parties expressing concern over rising crime and attacks on law enforcement personnel. Palaniswami accused the government of being complacent and politically driven, neglecting crucial administrative responsibilities.

“Under this regime, crime rates are spiralling. Incidents of murders, robberies, and violence against women have become frequent. The killing of a Sub-Inspector is not just a law-and-order failure, it is a clear sign of an administration that has lost control,” he said, demanding immediate and stringent action against the culprits.

The AIADMK leader also expressed condolences to the family of the slain officer and urged the state to provide all necessary support, including financial assistance, to them.

The murder has become a political flashpoint, with opposition parties stepping up their criticism of the DMK government, while public calls for stricter law enforcement and protection for police personnel continue to grow.
