Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin has expressed his deep sorrow over the death of Special Sub-Inspector Shanmugavel, who was killed while on patrol duty in Tiruppur.Shanmugavel, 57, was working at the Kudimangalam police station. He and a fellow officer, Constable Alaguraja, were responding to a report of a fight in a garden near Chikkanuthu when they were attacked with a sickle by three individuals. Shanmugavel died at the scene.
Chief Minister Stalin described the incident as shocking and painful. He called Shanmugavel’s death an irreplaceable loss to the Tamil Nadu Police force and his family. Stalin has ordered the police to quickly arrest the culprits involved in this horrific crime.
In a show of support for the family, the Chief Minister has also announced a compensation of ₹30 lakhs (30,00,000 rupees) to be provided to Shanmugavel’s family.
