With just days to go before the release of his much-anticipated action entertainer Coolie, director Lokesh Kanagaraj has penned a heartfelt note thanking his entire team for their dedication and hard work. Featuring Superstar Rajinikanth in the lead, the film is shaping up to be one of the biggest releases of the year.Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Lokesh shared his gratitude:
“With #Coolie unleashing in just a few days, I want to take a moment to thank the entire team who poured their hearts into it – 140 days of shoot spread over 2 years! This project has been incredibly close to my heart. Proud of you boys!”
On Thursday, the director was also seen visiting the famous Tiruvannamalai Shiva temple, offering prayers ahead of the film’s release — a gesture that quickly went viral on social media.
Coolie has already generated massive excitement, thanks to its powerful trailer and star-studded cast. The film not only features Rajinikanth in a commanding role but also includes Nagarjuna, Sathyaraj, Aamir Khan, Upendra, Soubin Shahir, and Shruti Haasan in key roles. The plot hints at a gripping narrative where Rajinikanth, a man living in obscurity, returns to action to protect his close friend (Sathyaraj), despite objections from the latter’s daughter (played by Shruti Haasan).
Adding to the buzz, industry rumours suggest that Coolie could see a release in over 100 countries, further underscoring its global appeal. The film is slated to hit screens on August 14, 2025.
However, the film’s ‘A’ certificate from the Censor Board has raised eyebrows. Given Rajinikanth’s massive family audience, concerns have emerged about the film’s accessibility to children and general family viewership. Despite this, the hype surrounding Coolie remains sky-high, with fans eagerly awaiting what promises to be a high-octane cinematic experience.
