Complainant Godse’s kin: Rahul claims threat to life over Savarkar remark

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has told a Pune court that he faces a threat to his life from the complainant in a defamation case over his remarks on Vinayak Damodar Savarkar.

In an application submitted on Wednesday, Gandhi said he has “grave apprehensions” about his safety because of “recent political issues” he raised and his earlier comments on Savarkar.

He alleged that the complainant is a direct descendant of Nathuram Godse, who assassinated Mahatma Gandhi, and claimed there is a “documented history of violence and anti-constitutional tendencies” linked to the complainant’s family.
