The Tamil Nadu government’s flagship public service initiative, “Ungaludan Stalin” (Stalin with You), is redefining grievance redressal by taking government services directly to citizens’ doorsteps. Through a network of special camps across the state, the scheme aims to deliver 46 services in rural areas and 43 in urban centers — eliminating the need for long trips to government offices.From resolving patta issues and processing pension applications to retrieving missing documents and enabling women to apply for the Kalaignar Magalir Urimai Thogai scheme, the camps function as one-stop solutions. Additional Chief Secretary Amudha Iyer praised the initiative, saying, “This is a boon for you. You do not have to travel long distances to visit government offices. The government offices are coming to your doorstep.”
With all petitions mandated to be resolved within 45 days, officials are kept accountable and citizens are assured timely action. The scheme’s impact is already visible — in Coimbatore, Bhagyalakshmi received both a new water connection and a revised property tax document within an hour of applying.
Chief Minister M.K. Stalin is personally tracking the program’s progress, instructing district collectors to resolve petitions immediately and ensure camps are well-equipped. His proactive oversight underscores the government’s commitment to inclusive, accessible governance.
For many, especially daily wage earners, the scheme is life-changing. “If I take leave for a day, I lose my earnings. Now I can get my work done without losing pay,” said S. Ramesh, a construction worker from Villupuram.
