Union Home Minister and BJP poll strategist Amit Shah on Thursday lashed out at the ruling DMK, calling it “corrupt” and alleging multiple scams under its regime. He asserted that the NDA, led by the AIADMK, will sweep the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections and form the next government.Speaking at the BJP’s first Booth Committee Conference in Tirunelveli, Shah said the AIADMK-BJP alliance had secured 39% of the vote share in the last elections and would secure an even larger share in 2026. “This time, the NDA will uproot the DMK and form the next government in Tamil Nadu,” he declared.
Shah also targeted the DMK and Congress, accusing them of dynastic politics. He said their only agenda was to make Rahul Gandhi the Prime Minister and Udhayanidhi Stalin the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu. “It will never happen,” he asserted, claiming that people would ensure the NDA’s resounding victory at both the national and state levels.
Highlighting Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s respect for Tamil culture and language, Shah recalled the PM’s recent visit to Gangaikonda Cholapuram and his announcement of a statue for the Chola King.
Defending the 130th Constitution Amendment Bill he introduced in Parliament, Shah said it aimed to disqualify Prime Ministers, Chief Ministers, and Ministers jailed for more than 30 consecutive days. He questioned how imprisoned Tamil Nadu Ministers V. Senthilbalaji and K. Ponmudy could continue in office.
Slamming Stalin for calling it a “Black Bill” and observing a “Black Day,” Shah said the Chief Minister had no moral right to criticize the measure.
He further alleged that the DMK regime was steeped in corruption, citing scams including TASMAC irregularities, illegal earth mining, and “cash for jobs.”
Reiterating his call for party preparedness, Shah urged cadres to strengthen Booth Committees, meet people at their homes, and explain the Modi government’s welfare schemes. He appealed to workers to put in hard work over the next eight months to ensure NDA’s victory.
“The AIADMK-BJP alliance will form the next government in Tamil Nadu in 2026 and uplift the livelihood of all sections of the people,” he declared.
