Gripping thriller

Indra is a well-crafted investigative thriller that keeps viewers hooked with suspense, drama, and emotional intensity. The film follows police officer Indra (Vasanth Ravi), whose life spirals downward after a tragic accident leads to his suspension. Struggling with guilt, alcoholism, and eventual blindness, Indra is drawn into a series of brutal murders that rock the city. Despite his limitations, he takes it upon himself to solve the case, setting the stage for a tense battle of wits and resilience.

Debut director Sabarish Nanda gives Indra a distinct identity, avoiding the pitfalls of formulaic thrillers. The film embraces a cinematic approach, with technical departments working in harmony. The sound design and background score heighten tension, while the cinematography’s moody frames complement the dark narrative. Tight editing ensures the 128-minute runtime remains brisk and engaging.

Performances anchor the film. Vasanth Ravi delivers a sensitive and restrained portrayal of a broken yet determined cop. Suniel impresses with his commanding presence, and Mehreen Pirzada adds charm, though her role could have been sharper. Anaikha Surendran surprises with a storyline that deepens the intrigue. Key moments, including a pre-interval confrontation, a gripping flashback, and the final twist, keep the audience invested.

While Indra may not redefine the thriller genre, it succeeds as a neatly executed murder mystery with strong emotional resonance. With solid performances, impressive technical execution, and a clear directorial vision, the film offers a rewarding experience for fans of suspenseful dramas.
