The much-anticipated film Draupathi 2 is currently in production under the banner of Netaji Productions, in association with Chola Chakravarthy, and produced by G. M. Film Corporation. The big-budget historical drama is directed by Mohan G., known for films such as Pazhaya Vannarapettai, Draupathi, Rudra Thandavam, and Bagasuran.The film stars Richard Rishi in the lead role, with Rakshana Indusudan playing the female lead. Notable actors including Natti Natraj, Y. G. Mahendran, Nadodigal Barani, Saravana Subbiah, Vel Ramamoorthy, Siraj Johnny, Dinesh Lamba, Ganesh Gaurang, Divi, Devayani Sharma, and Arunodayan will be seen in key roles.
Written by Mohan G. and Padma Chandrasekhar, the filmâs technical team features music by Ghibran, cinematography by Philip R. Sundar, choreography by Thanika Tony, stunt coordination by Action Santosh, editing by Devaraj, and art direction by Kamalnathan.
Set in the 14th century, Draupathi 2 explores a crucial period in Tamil Naduâs history, depicting the Mughal empireâs first entry into the region and showcasing the bravery of the Hoysala emperor Veera Vallalar III, who ruled South India from Thiruvannamalai, along with the Kadavarayas of Sendhamangalam.
Around 75% of the film has been shot in Mumbai, with additional sequences filmed in Senji, Thiruvannamalai, and parts of Kerala. The movie will also link its storyline with the 2020 film Draupathi, serving as a sequel to the original.
The makers are aiming for a grand release by the end of this year.
