Prime Minister Narendra Modi reaffirmed India’s unwavering stance against terrorism while addressing the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) leaders’ meeting on Sunday. Emphasising that terrorism remains the gravest threat to regional peace and stability, the Prime Minister called for a zero-tolerance approach towards cross-border terrorism, separatism, and extremism.
Proposing a comprehensive SCO-wide framework to curb terror financing and radicalisation, Modi underscored India’s success in implementing de-radicalisation measures, encouraging other member nations to adopt similar initiatives.
The Prime Minister also drew attention to emerging security concerns such as cyber-terrorism and unmanned threats, stressing the importance of collective efforts to safeguard regional security.
Acknowledging the SCO’s contribution in strengthening peace and cooperation, Modi praised the progress of the Regional Anti-Terrorist Structure (RATS) and ongoing efforts to promote economic connectivity and cultural exchanges among member states.
The summit brought together leaders from SCO member nations to deliberate on pressing regional and global issues, with Modi’s remarks reinforcing India’s proactive role in promoting security, stability, and development in the region.
