Tirupattur, Sept 10: Bharathi, Panchayat President of Nariyambattu in Tirupattur district and a member of the DMK, has been permanently expelled from the party.She was arrested in Chennai by the Koyambedu police for allegedly stealing a gold chain weighing four sovereigns from a passenger while traveling on a government bus.
Police traced her through CCTV footage. During inquiry, Bharathi confessed to the theft. Reports said she admitted that she had been involved in similar thefts for many years.
Following her arrest, the DMK announced her expulsion, stating that the party would not tolerate such activities.
