Washington, Sept 10: US President Donald Trump on Tuesday said his administration is continuing talks with India to solve trade issues. In a post on Truth Social, Trump said he looks forward to speaking with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the coming weeks. He expressed confidence the talks would end successfully.
“I feel certain that there will be no difficulty in coming to a successful conclusion for both of our Great Countries!” Trump wrote.
The statement comes after Trump earlier warned that India and Russia seemed closer to China following PM Modi’s meeting with Xi Jinping and Vladimir Putin at the SCO Summit in Tianjin.
Later, Trump softened his tone. He praised Modi as a “great prime minister” and said the two leaders will “always be friends.”
In response, Modi said he “deeply appreciates” Trump’s words and “fully reciprocates” his positive view of India-US ties.
