DMDK general secretary Premalatha Vijayakanth paid floral tributes to Perarignar Anna on his 117th birth anniversary at Tiruchi Sindhamani. After the event, she spoke to reporters.Premalatha said that Vijayakanth should not be compared with anyone. She added that her partyâs focus is only on growth and development.
She recalled that big parties like DMK, AIADMK, and DMDK have all attracted huge crowds in their meetings. Vijayakanth too drew massive gatherings during his political journey. She said if those meetings had been better organized, they would have looked even grander.
Premalatha highlighted that Vijayakanth launched his party and, within a short time, secured a high percentage of votes. For this reason, she said, no one should compare him with others, as such comparisons are not fair.
She also told reporters not to ask questions about Vijayakanth or alliances to her in the future, as she had already made her stand clear.
Premalatha pointed out that this is the first election for DMDK without Vijayakanth, so the party will take some more time before deciding on alliances. She stressed that the main aim now is to strengthen the party.
