Malayalam actor Unni Mukundan has been officially announced to play Prime Minister Narendra Damodardas Modi in an upcoming biopic titled Maa Vande. The announcement comes on Modi’s 75th birthday, and the project is said to be made in all major Indian languages.
The film will be directed by Kranthi Kumar CH and produced by Veer Reddy M under the banner Silver Cast Creations. Unni Mukundan shared on social media that he feels both humbled and inspired by the opportunity. He also mentioned that his childhood memories of Modi—first knowing him as the Chief Minister of Gujarat and later meeting him in 2023—have deeply influenced his understanding of the leader.
One recurring theme in the film, according to Mukundan, is Modi’s close bond with his mother, Heeraben Modi, whose influence played a significant part in shaping his character. Mukundan also shared a Gujarati phrase from Modi—“Jhookvanu Nahi” (“Never Bow Down”)—which he says has guided him through challenges in his own life. The makers promise a pan-India release, with high production values and a team of well-known technicians attached.
