Chief Minister M.K. Stalin has urged the Union Government to release its share of funds to the state government on time and without delay, stressing the importance of timely financial support for the smooth implementation of joint welfare and development schemes.
He made this appeal while chairing the State-level Development, Coordination and Monitoring Committee meeting at the Secretariat in Chennai. The session reviewed progress across departments, including health, agriculture, and welfare schemes for differently abled citizens.
Highlighting Tamil Naduâs welfare achievements, Stalin said the state has been implementing projects with utmost care to ensure benefits reach every citizen. He noted that 3.38 lakh self-help groups (SHGs) are active in villages, with 55.12 lakh members, including 1.57 lakh elderly and tribal people supported through SHGs.
Stalin further pointed out that Tamil Nadu has emerged as a malnutrition-free state thanks to the nutritious mid-day meal scheme, which has also contributed to improved child growth rates. He added that the state offers 55% subsidy to small farmers and 45% to other farmers, ranking first in India for farmer welfare schemes.
âOur government releases its share of funds for all joint schemes promptly, without any delay. Similarly, we expect the Union Government to release its contribution to the state at the right time,â Stalin emphasised.
He reiterated that Tamil Naduâs welfare and development programs are designed to reach even the last citizen, ensuring inclusive growth across sectors.
