Tamil Nadu Finance Minister Thangam Thennarasu, who also handles the Archaeology portfolio, said the state has once again proved its role as the cradle of India’s civilization.His statement came after the discovery of a terracotta sarcophagus at Kilnamandi in Tiruvannamalai. The finding, carbon-dated to 1692 BCE, was unearthed along with carnelian beads, iron tools, and graffiti symbols that link to the Indus Valley Civilization.
Calling it more than just an archaeological milestone, the Minister said it shows the brilliance of Tamil ancestors, their skill in art, trade, and global connections. He said it was heartening to see such discoveries that highlight the rich heritage of Tamil Nadu.
