TN govt announces Kalaimamani awards, KJ Yesudas chosen for MS Subbulakshmi Award

The Tamil Nadu government has announced the recipients of the prestigious Kalaimamani and MS Subbulakshmi Awards for the years 2021, 2022, and 2023. These awards, conferred by the Tamil Nadu Iyal Isai Nataka Mandram, recognize outstanding contributions to the fields of literature, music, and theatre.
Kalaimamani Awardees
The Kalaimamani Award, the highest civilian honor in Tamil Nadu, is presented to individuals who have excelled in various art forms. The recipients for the years 2021, 2022, and 2023 include:
2021: Actor-director SJ Suryah, actress Sai Pallavi, director Lingusamy, and stunt coordinator Super Subbarayan.
2022: Actor Vijay Sethupathi, actress Suriya, and music director Anirudh Ravichander.
2023: Actor Karthi, actress Trisha, and music director Yuvan Shankar Raja.
MS Subbulakshmi Award
The MS Subbulakshmi Award is presented to an artist from the music field who has made significant contributions. This year’s recipient is renowned playback singer Dr. KJ Yesudas, a Padma Bhushan awardee, recognized for his exceptional talent and dedication to music.
Veteran film PROs Diamond Babu and Nikil Murukan have been chosen to receive Kalaimamani awards.
These awards celebrate the rich cultural heritage of Tamil Nadu and honor individuals who have enriched the state’s artistic landscape. The ceremony for the 2021–2023 awardees is scheduled to take place in Chennai, with Chief Minister M. K. Stalin expected to preside over the event.
The Kalaimamani and MS Subbulakshmi Awards continue to serve as a testament to the state’s commitment to preserving and promoting its artistic traditions.
