AIADMK General Secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami has questioned the ruling DMK’s claims of educational progress in Tamil Nadu. Speaking at a campaign meeting in Dindigul, he said student enrollment in government schools has dropped since the DMK came to power. He also alleged that many schools face a shortage of teachers. Referring to a recent Supreme Court verdict, Palaniswami warned that nearly 1.5 lakh teachers could lose their jobs. He demanded to know what steps the state government will take to protect them. He further criticised the government for projecting growth through advertisements and photoshoots, instead of addressing real issues in the education sector.
