As part of its Planet CSR initiative, Titan Company Limited, in partnership with the National Agro Foundation, has successfully rejuvenated the Gunduperumbedu Lake in Sriperumbudur, restoring a water body neglected for nearly 15 years. The 157-hectare lake has been transformed into a vital resource for water, agriculture, and community resilience. The project involved removing 1.05 lakh cubic metres of silt, strengthening bunds, constructing 435 metres of toe wall, renovating sluice gates, a surplus weir, a check-weir, and building a new RCC passway bridge. These interventions increased the lake’s capacity by 26 crore litres, allowing 3–5 additional months of farming annually, raising the water table by 10 feet, and expanding cultivation by 20%, benefiting around 3,000 residents directly and 27,000 people in surrounding villages. Groundwater recharge and flood mitigation are expected to impact nearly 1.2 lakh people indirectly. Earlier in 2025, Titan also completed the Masaorambhu Stream Restoration Project in Coimbatore, replenishing 10 crore litres of water through seven check dams, enhancing groundwater recharge across the rural catchment. “At Titan, water rejuvenation is not just about restoring natural resources, but about restoring hope and opportunity. These projects empower villages, secure livelihoods, and strengthen resilience,” said Revathi Kant, Chief Design Officer and Executive Vice President, Titan Company Limited. The revitalized lake was officially handed over to the lake committee on September 18, in the presence of Titan executives, district officials, and representatives of the National Agro Foundation. @@
