Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday released a special postage stamp and a commemorative Rs 100 coin to mark the 100th anniversary of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS).
The coin is the first Indian currency to feature an image of Bharat Mata. One side of the coin shows the national emblem, while the other side depicts Bharat Mata in Varada Mudra (a gesture of giving) with a lion by her side. Swayamsevaks are shown bowing in devotion.
The coin also carries the RSS motto:
“Everything is dedicated to the nation, everything belongs to the nation, nothing is mine.”
PM Modi said this release is a moment of pride and historical significance for independent India.
