The Taipei Economic and Cultural Center in Chennai, India, participated in the Republic of China (ROC) National Day luncheon hosted by the Sri Lanka Taiwan Friendship Association (SLTFA). The event, held at Jetwing Hotel in Colombo, was attended by approximately 45 expatriates and local friends, marking a significant occasion for the Taiwanese community in Sri Lanka.
During the luncheon, Director Hsu Shu-Chih of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Center emphasized Taiwan’s role as a responsible member of the international community. He highlighted Taiwan’s contributions in humanitarian aid, medical assistance, education, and technological cooperation. Acknowledging Sri Lanka’s rich cultural heritage and strategic position in the Indian Ocean, Director Hsu expressed hope that through efforts from the expatriate community, both nations could foster deeper mutual understanding and strengthen bilateral relations.
Additionally, the Taipei Economic and Cultural Center took the opportunity to resume its consular services, which had been suspended for several years, to better serve the Taiwanese expatriates residing in Sri Lanka. The event underscored the enduring ties between Taiwan and Sri Lanka, reflecting a shared commitment to cultural exchange and international cooperation.
