Violent clashes erupted in Cuttack following a dispute over loud music during a Durga Puja procession in the Dargah Bazaar area. Stones and bottles were reportedly thrown, and several people, including police personnel, were injured.The situation escalated when a motorcycle rally organized by the Vishwa Hindu Parishad passed through the area against administrative orders. Shops near Gourishankar Park were vandalised, some set on fire, and CCTV cameras were damaged.
Authorities responded by imposing a 36-hour curfew in affected areas and suspending internet services in Cuttack Municipal Corporation and surrounding zones. Social media platforms including WhatsApp, Facebook, and Instagram were blocked during this period.
Central armed police forces were deployed to assist local law enforcement. Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi urged citizens to maintain peace, warning that strict action would be taken against those inciting violence.
