TTV Dinakaran has cautioned that arresting Vijay, leader of the tVK, in connection with the recent Karur stampede would set a dangerous precedent. Speaking to reporters, Dinakaran emphasized that the tragedy was an unfortunate accident, not a criminal act, and that holding Vijay accountable would be unjust.Dinakaran further criticized the DMK-led government’s handling of the situation, suggesting that if Vijay were arrested, it could lead to similar actions against other political leaders organizing public events, potentially affecting all parties, including the DMK.
Regarding the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, Dinakaran asserted that he would contest independently and vowed to defeat Edappadi K. Palaniswami, accusing him of betrayal. He also criticized Palaniswami for not taking responsibility for the Thoothukudi police firing incident, where 13 people were killed during protests.
Dinakaran concluded by calling for a neutral stance on the Karur incident, urging political leaders to avoid using the tragedy for political gain.
