The International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) devotees across the world are celebrating the auspicious Damodar Month this year from October 7 to November 5, 2025. According to the Skanda Purana and Padma Purana, this period, also known as Karthik Month, marks the time when Lord Krishna allowed Mother Yashoda to tie Him to a mortar, symbolizing His sweetness and accessibility to devotees.
ISKCON Chennai is inviting schools, offices, temples, and shopping malls to host Damodar Arati Programs, which include a short prayer, narration of the Damodara Lila, and distribution of lamps for devotees to offer before a picture of Lord Krishna. The program highlights the rich Indian culture, the valor of Lord Krishna in protecting humanity, and His compassion in relieving the suffering of devotees. The Skanda Purana emphasizes that offering a lamp to Krishna during this month yields remarkable spiritual benefits.
For assistance in organizing the program, ISKCON Chennai has appointed Smt. Ramani Tungavidhya (Ramya) as coordinator, reachable at 8220017695. This initiative provides a meaningful opportunity for participants to experience devotion, cultural heritage, and spiritual enrichment.
