WC: SA beats B’desh


New Delhi, Oct 14: South Africa held their nerve to clinch a thrilling 3-wicket win over Bangladesh in the Women’s World Cup.
Bangladesh batted first and posted 232/6, powered by an explosive 51 off 33 balls from Shorna Akter and steady contributions from Sharmin Akter.
Chasing that total, South Africa slipped to 78/5 early.  But veteran all-rounders Marizanne Kapp (56 off 71) and Chloe Tryon (62 off 69) steadied the innings with an 85-run partnership, bringing the match back into reach.
In the end, Nadine de Klerk’s calm finish sealed the win in dramatic fashion, hitting decisive runs in the final over to take South Africa past the target with just three balls to spare.
