In view of the upcoming Diwali festival, Tambaram City Police have announced temporary traffic changes near the Kalaignar Centenary Bus Terminus (KCBT) on October 17, 18, 21, and 22 to ease congestion and ensure smooth travel.Heavy vehicles from Chennai, Avadi, Maduravoyal, Kanchipuram, and Singaperumal Temple areas will be diverted along alternate routes via Sriperumbudur, Tiruvannamalai, Thirukovilur, Kanchipuram, Walajabad, and Bengaluru National Highway depending on the direction of travel. In case of congestion near Irumbuliyur Bridge, vehicles will be rerouted via Vandalur Outer Ring Road and the Maduravoyal Bypass.
To support festival travel, additional suburban trains will run from Kattankulathur, Maraimalainagar, and Potheri stations on October 21 and 22. 2,092 special buses will operate from KCBT between October 16 and 19. Passengers traveling to and from Puducherry, Cuddalore, Chidambaram, Sirkazhi, Nagapattinam, Thiruvarur, Mayiladuthurai, and nearby districts are advised to use OMR and ECR routes, while special local trains will run at regular intervals to reduce road traffic.
The Tambaram City Traffic Police have urged all motorists and travelers to cooperate and follow the diversion guidelines to ensure safe and smooth travel during the festive season.
